With only a few weeks remaining of the 2023-24 NFL season, some of the favorites for getting to the playoffs are already clear. Current standings and bookmakers’ odds may show which football teams are the best ones. But which NFL team provides the best fan experience? Our team at SuperBettingSites was curious to see which stadiums have the most dedicated sports and football bars in close proximity.

Sports bars have long been an integral part of the pre-game experience, where fans can enjoy some drinks together, make predictions, and partake in post-game celebrations. So, our team looked at the NFL teams and their home stadiums and checked which ones have the most sports bars nearby.

Main Findings

Ford Field Stadium has the most sports bars within a 1-mile Radius

The Ford Field stadium of the NFC Detroit Lions in Michigan has a whopping number of 30 sports-dedicated bars and restaurants within a 1-mile radius, helping it secure the first place on this ranking.

The Miami Dolphins and their home arena, Hard Rock Stadium, sit on the bottom of the ranking

There are no dedicated football or sports bars near Hard Rock Stadium, which is located in Miami Gardens, Florida; the only NFL stadium where you need to drive for miles to find a sports bar. However, there is a bar at the stadium itself.

Three stadiums from the AFC North division are in the top 10

AFC North is the most represented division in the list of top 10 NFL stadiums with the most sports bars within a 1-mile radius. The Cincinnati Bengals rank 2nd with 18 bars, the Cleveland Browns are 4th with 16 bars, and the Baltimore Ravens appear in the 8th position with 15 bars.

Top 10 NFL Stadiums with the Most Sports Bars Nearby

Detroit Lions

Before the Super Bowl era, the Detroit Lions had won four NFL championships, between 1935 and 1957. Since then, they have not been particularly successful. In fact, this is the only NFL team continuously operational since the first Super Bowl to never appear in it. Despite this bad luck, the team is known for starting the Thanksgiving Day game tradition. And now, they can remain in history as the NFL team with the largest number of sports bars within a 1-mile radius of their home field. With 30 sports-friendly bars and restaurants nearby, the Ford Field in Downtown Detroit tops this list.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have had intense rivalries with several teams over the years, most notably the Pittsburgh Steelers, but also with the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens. They have had both victories and losses against those franchises but when it comes to the number of bars you can visit near their home stadiums, the Bengals are undisputedly triumphant. With 18 sports within a mile radius, they and the Paycor Stadium rank second on this list.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have been though several major changes since their founding in 1953. They were established as the Baltimore Colts but relocated to Indianapolis in 1984 where the RCA Dome became their home stadium. It was demolished and since 2008, they have played their games in Lucas Oil Stadium, the new venue in Downtown Indianapolis. The stadium, which every year hosts the NFL Draft Combine, has 17 sports bars within a 1-mile radius. This puts it in the third position on our ranking.

Carolina Panthers

October 2023 marked the 30th anniversary of the Carolina Panthers, although their first season was not in 1993 but two years later, in 1995. The team is supported in both Carolinas but it’s headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, where its home field is, the Bank of America Stadium. We counted 16 sports bars in close proximity, putting the Panthers fourth in the ranking.

Cleveland Browns

Along with the Detroit Lions, the Browns are one of the four franchises to have never appeared in the Super Bowl. In the past, the team had been fairly successful but ever since the 1990s, they have been struggling despite having a number of great players over the years. Their home stadium, on the other hand, the city-owned Cleveland Browns Stadium is a wonderful sports venue on the shores of Lake Erie and we counted 16 sports bars within a mile radius of it. This means it is tied with the Carolina Panthers for the fourth position on this list.

Tennessee Titans

The team has achieved several milestones, including being the only team in the NFL to have two players rush for 2,000 yards in a season – Chris Johnson in 2009 and Derrick Henry in 2020. They have also had six consecutive winning seasons since 2016; still, they have a single Super Bowl appearance and no win. When it comes to the number of sports bars near their home stadium, however, the Titans are 6th in the NFL. There are 15 bars and restaurants where you can enjoy some beers close to the Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Baltimore Ravens

Established in 1996, the Baltimore Ravens are the second-youngest franchise in the National Football League. Despite that, they have been one of the most successful teams in the league – they have played in two Super Bowls and won both of them. This makes them one of the two teams to be undefeated in more than one Super Bowl appearance (along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who’ve also won two). The Ravens are also 6th in the NFL for bars within a mile of their home stadium. We counted 15 locations around M&T Bank Stadium.

New Orleans Saints

They are one of the few professional sports teams that have two mascots: Gumbo the Dog and Sir Saint! The team’s first regular-season touchdown was a 94-yard kickoff return by John Gilliam in their inaugural game. The Saints also earned a spot on the list of the top 10 NFL teams with the most sports bars within a 1-mile radius of their home stadium. With 14 bars near the Caesars Superdome in the Central Business District of New Orleans, the Saints are 8th on this ranking.

Dallas Cowboys

One of the most successful teams in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys have appeared 8 times in Super Bowl. They have a huge fan base and at $9 billion, they have been named the most valuable sports team in 2023 not only in the NFL but globally. Their home stadium, the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has 13 sports bars within a 1-mile radius, putting it 9th on our list.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have a loyal fanbase in multiple states but also, have some of the loudest fans in the world, twice setting a Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd noise at a sporting event (the current record is held by another team and stadium in NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium). The Seahawks now appear 10th on our ranking with 12 sports bars within a mile of their home stadium, the Lumen Field in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle.

Methodology

To find out which NFL teams have the highest number of sports bars within a 1-mile radius, we took all 32 NFL franchises and their current home arenas. Using the FreeMapTools website and its Find Places Within Radius functionality, we searched for sports bars inside a 1-mile radius of the address of each stadium. We also looked at Google Maps since the tool did not provide information for all 30 addresses we had to input.

Keep in mind that there are only 30 full-time NFL stadiums, despite the teams adding up to 32. This is because the New York Giants and New York Jets share MetLife Stadium, while the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers share SoFi Stadium.
